Los Álamos, originally founded as a border fortification estancia against the Indians, is one of the oldest in Mendoza and has adapted repeatedly to suit the changing times.  Writer Susana Bombal turned it into an oasis of refinement.

Jorge Luis Borges, Manuel Mújica Láinez, Raúl Soldi, Héctor Basaldua and other friends of Susana left memories of their sojourn there: paintings, manuscripts and verses inspired by the finca and in its owner.
